the supervising physician’s practice.
PCA’s nurse practitioners (FNP) embody the art of medicine and
the heart of nursing. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with additional
education and training that enable them to provide primary health care
services including physical assessments, laboratory and diagnostic procedures,
disease prevention and management, and medication administration and management.
Nurse practitioners must complete a bachelor’s of science in nursing
(or related) degree, complete a master’s degree from a nurse practitioner
program, and be a licensed registered nurse. All nurse practitioners specialize
in a particular health care area. Specialties include family, adult, geriatric,
women’s health, school, or pediatric nursing.
